ASM Studios is here to provide our students and their families with an artistic home to develop their creativity. We began our business from the ground up from our very home and have expanded to serve our community in the arts. Here's some Frequently Asked Questions about our school:

What will I learn in my lessons?

Our lessons are customized to the needs of each individual student. Younger students will have different needs than an older students, therefore all the lessons are approached differently. Our Teachers take the time to know your goals, musical styles, and interests so that we can cater each lesson and adjust our curriculum to each student. There are basic foundations that each student must learn in order to progress and attain a greater understanding of the language of music / art, but we show these fundamentals through the interest of each student.

What styles of music do you teach?

How many styles of music are there? Music is one language, no matter the style. Our foundation is classical, but from there you can branch out into pretty much anything you can think of. All of our teachers are highly qualified to guide and expose you to the language of music and all the different styles. So... pretty much everything! :-)

What Styles of Art do you teach?

We teach most forms of traditional 2D studio art. Some of these are but not limited to:

  • Acrylic painting

  • Watercolor painting

  • Ink pen work

  • Charcoal or graphite studies

  • Sketching

This includes everything from different traditional art forms, to cartoons and anime.

Are your Teachers qualified?

Absolutely! The problem is that most schools will claim that the teachers are qualified, in today's artistic standards this means the know how to play the instrument or art form. At ASM Studios we believe that if you have not recieved a professional, college level education, you are NOT qualified to teach music or art. Our founder, Jose Aenlle, has experience teaching in local Universities like UCF, and Valencia College. He has found that the problem most students in a music and art department face is an incomplete understanding of the arts due to the education received during their first few years of studying. Music is a language and a poor education can help you make "sound" but not fully comprehend the language so you can "read" and "speak" the language that will last a lifetime.

Our Teachers are also backed up by our school wide curriculum. Our students are expected to learn certain skills to progress through our 9 levels. Once you reach the 9th level, you are a Maestro which is the equivalent of a blackbelt ninja in music!

Our Art Teachers are also highly qualified and are held to the same standards as our Music Teachers. If you have not received a professional, college level education, you are NOT qualified to teach.

Do you offer lessons to children and adults?

Yes. We offer lessons to all ages. If you have 30 minutes a day to practice, you will be successful at learning Music / Art.

How old does my child have to be to start in music and/or art lessons?

Every child is different. Usually around 4 years old. The youngest student so far has been 3 years old. If you are unsure, we would love to meet with you to evaluate your child and let you know if he/she is ready. Contact us at or call us at 407-255-7520.

I love music, what instrument should we begin with?

We always suggest to begin with Piano or Percussion. Really percussions?!? Yes, unlike other schools, we actually have amazing drummers and percussionists who are ACTUALLY musicians. This means that the student will be submerged in learning to read rhythm which is the hardest part of learning to read music. They will not only be exposed to a drumset but also to mallet percussion which is very similar and has the same spacings as the keyboard on a piano. Traditionally we also recommend to start with Piano. It has been our years of experience and research that has taught us that Piano is a gateway instrument that leads to a greater understanding of music and of all the other instruments. But whichever way you decide to start our ASM Studios School wide curriculum and levels will make sure that your music education is complete, no matter what instrument you choose to start with.

We do not own an instrument, does your school provide one?

ASM Studios is furnished with Pianos and Drumsets and Mallet Percussion. These are the only instruments the students do not need to bring. All students are required to have their own instrument to be able to practice at home. Our staff will be happy to assist in helping you find a quality instrument as well as referring you to the right places to purchase them. We have some instruments available for trial lessons only, and for short period rentals. Short period rentals include guitars, woodwinds, and brass instruments.

Will the lessons be private or are there group lessons too?

Traditionally music is taught on a one-on-one basis. Our lessons are designed to be private to maximize the learning benefit of each student. We do offer group classes in guitar, all level theory classes to go from one level to the next, and our bands that meet weekly. Bands meet once a week for an hour and it's an additional $45 a month. They have various performances throughout the year including our huge concert Avalon Music and Arts Festival (in May), and Night at Spirit of JOY (in June).

For Art lessons, the lessons are personalized for up to 2 students. Given the duration of the class, we pair up each student according to age. We have found that students are more artistically stimulated when working with a collegue. We also offer our Art Social and Culture group classes that are accompanied by food, drinks and a great cause for donating to our Grace Rate Scholarship.

How long is the duration of each lesson?

Music Lessons are all one-on-one and can be customized to match the student's age and level. For beginners, we recommend that you start with 30 minute lessons. 45 min and 60 min lessons are available for students who would like more time to jam out with their teachers, learn more, and have fun! You can always upgrade your time as you progress through our program.

Students taking Voice Lessons are recommended to take the 45 min to 60 min lessons due to the Vocal Warm-up exercises which can take up to 15 minutes. These exercises are essential for growing your vocal range, and taking care of your voice while exploring it through your lessons.

Will the lessons be at the same time each week?

Yes. We kindly as you to choose a day and time that would work best for you on a weekly schedule. Your lesson will normally be on the same time and day each week.

Can I take a trial lesson?

Of course! We encourage you to try a new instrument! You can take a pro-rated trial lesson on any instrument. a 30 min trial lesson is $25 and it gives you the opportunity to meet your teacher one-on-one, get an idea what the curriculum will be like, and know how your music / art lessons will progress. After that you can register and enroll in our monthly membership.

What guarantees can you give that I/my child will learn?

ASM Studios is a place for learning. We don't just sell you a spot on the schedule, what you're really getting is a support system of incredibly experienced teachers and a school that follows a curriculum with a steady pace of growth. This is the place where if you're not doing what you're supposed to do to continue to grow, you will know through the curriculum and the teachers. If you practice and dedicate the necessary time, usually about 30 min a day, we guarantee that you will learn the instrument of your choice.

How does your curriculum work?

We have 9 levels. The first 3 are beginners which is what we call Pupils and are ranked by white, yellow, and orange medals. The next 3 levels are for the intermediates and we call them Scholars and are ranked by green, blue, and purple medals. The final 3 levels are red medals, which are called Artists, brown medals which we call Apprentice and BLACK medals which we call MAESTRO'S. Essentially being a Maestro is the equivalent of being a black belt in Martial Arts. As a Maestro you fully understand the language of music, will know how to work with people and lead ensembles or bands, will fully understand music theory, will have an amazing understanding of ear training, and will rock anyone's world at your instrument(s).

You progress from one level to the next by meeting the requirements for each level which include practice time logged, theory knowledge, technique in the instrument, and repetoire (songs/pieces). Once you meet the requirements for the level, your teacher will submit a "Request for Graduation" and you will show your skills to a jury made up of the directors of the school and your teacher. Here you will demonstrate what you have learned and graduate. In the music professional world, we call this a Jury or an Audition. These are important experiences that will build invaluable skills for each student! Not to mention the boost in confidence and knowledge!

Sounds intimidating... but we train NINJAS here! :-)

I don't want to be a professional, I just want to learn as a hobby, is this place still right for me/my family?

Of course! This is the one place GUARANTEED to get MORE than what you're paying for! Other places offer "Instant gratification" but we offer the chance for to you see what you're made of! We offer challenge, knowledge, YEARS of experience, and up front honesty in how you're progressing. Don't waste your time in places that just sell you a timed spot. We offer you the chance to learn and understand music and art without the holes in the education due to "instant gratification" that can become frustrating when learning music or art. Our curriculum is based on years of experience in the education system teaching everyone from 2 1/2 years of age to 88 years young in everything from Elementary school to College.

Something came up and I can't make it to my lesson, what should I do?

If something comes up, please be sure to cancel the lesson 24 hours before. However, at ASM Studios we understand that we can wake up sick, or sometimes our schedules can change, that's why we have a Grace Period for cancelling lessons. As long as you contact us before 2pm of the day you take the lesson, you will be able to "early cancel" which means that you can have a make up lesson. Just call us at 407-255-7520 and BE SURE TO LEAVE A MESSAGE with your Name, student's Name and time of the lesson, and let us know you are canceling. You can also download the ASM Studios iOS and Andoird app or cancel the lesson yourself at our website at and click on "Schedule a Lesson".

If you do not cancel the lesson before 24 hours or by the Grace Period of "before 2pm the day of the lesson" your account will be marked as a "Late Cancel" which means you are charged as if you attended the lesson.

This policy is in place to protect our teachers and to insure that your lessons are consistant.

Other places say they offer "instant gratification", what do you think of this and what do you offer?

Our society lives on "instant gratification"... We go to fast food places and pay cheap for foods that are ultimately killing us, but bringing us "instant gratification". Same goes with our education system. Teaching people that they don't have to try much and they will be winners is completely unrealistic in a real world setting. At ASM Studios we teach that if you work hard, you will be rewarded. We teach that the things that are challenging, are the things worth accomplishing. This doesn't mean that we can't have fun in our journey, but it's just that... It's a journey together! Don't settle for "fastfood music schools", come and see what you're made of, and discover the incredible discipline and strength it takes to become a true Maestro in the Arts! See you at your next lesson!

"Do or do not... there is no try"

"No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it."
