Ms. Angie

Angie Aldarondo is a classically trained mezzo-soprano, with a Master's degree in Opera Performance from Loyola University New Orleans. At five years old, she began studying piano in Winter Park with her beloved teacher, Mrs. Nicole Brannon. By the time she was 12, she was was performing in school productions, and soon after began studying both sacred and secular choral music. In college, Angie received degrees in Psychology and Music. Her undergraduate vocal training was with Ellen Frohnmayer, from whom she received a high-caliber and rigorous education. During that time, she gained several years' experience as a soloist in various churches around the city of New Orleans. She has sung everything from classical repertoire for the Episcopal Cathedral to traditional spirituals in a Lower Ninth Ward church as the resident soloist. As a result of Hurricane Katrina, Angie briefly relocated to Chicago, where she completed her psychology coursework at DePaul University.

Voice - Piano

Two years after Katrina, Angie returned to New Orleans to complete her Master's degree. Soon after, she began teaching voice and piano privately. She joined the New Orleans Opera Association for 5 seasons, and performed in 14 productions with the company. There she had the opportunity to share the stage with such greats as Susan Graham, Brian Hymel, Mark Schnaible and Rinat Shaham. In the summer of 2009, she completed a Young Artists' Program in Brugge, Belgium, where she studied with Mark Schnaible and performed the role of Diana in Maury Yeston's Nine.

Angie's mission as an educator is three-fold:

1) Create and facilitate an educational experience that helps every student to develop the necessary skills to succeed both within the musical realm and beyond.

2) Treat every student as an individual with a unique set of capabilities and challenges.

3) Employ music education as a tool to foster growth in every area of a student's life, be it intellectual, spiritual, or emotional. This approach creates the foundation for a balanced and well-rounded artist.
